Each year, thousands of dolphins are caught in fishing nets around the world. Now, biologists in Canada are trying to find to find a way to make dolphins safe.
Biologists in Canada are trying to find out how to prevent dolphins from being caught in fishing nets. They say their study aims is to discover whether dolphins can perceive (察觉)fishing nets and why they swim into them. Some dolphins in Canada are being trained to swim with their eyes covered.
They process takes a long time, as dolphins are uncomfortable at first with foreign objects in their own bodies. By working slowly and rewarding the dolphins with fish, the animals grow comfortable in swimming with their eyes covered at last.
Every dolphin is a little bit different. Some dolphins are every comfortable having them on their bodies. Some dolphins were a little uncomfortable having them on their bodies and will try to swim away or try and take them off. But I think all of the dolphins with their eyes covered can listen to sound cues (暗号) that help them find their way around by using passive listening.
The scientists want to discover how dolphins choose to use echolocation (同声定位法), or passive listening.
Further experiments will have the dolphins swim through an obstacle (障碍物) field of good objects that won’t hurt the animals, such as nets, ropes in the water.

Nick is a world-famous speaker. His experience inspires a lot of people in the world. He was born on December 4th, 1982 in Australia. Unluckily, he was born without arms or legs, but he learnt to swim, get dressed, used a computer and so on. At 21, Nick graduated from university.
