He's old enough to be your grandfather, but at 75 years old, Superman looks as young as he did when he first appeared in 1938.

Created by writer Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster when they were teenagers, Superman was introduced in Action Comics No. 1. He was the first costumed superhero, and his success soon led to the creation of Batman, Wonder Woman, and many other popular comic-book crime(犯罪) fighters.

In this new version(版本) of the story, Clark, played by Henry Cavill, realizes that he must become the Earth's protector. He finds that some people from Krypton have arrived on the Earth and they want to do something bad to it.

"He's a fun character because of all the things he can do," said Dan Jurgens, who has written and drawn Superman comics since 1987. "Other characters in comics might only have one or two powers, like super strength or the ability to fly, while Superman can do a number of things." Jurgens thinks Superman will keep thrilling people for the next 75 years.
