Thirty minutes later, when the passenger's ring for service sounded, the flight attendant felt worried. She was so busy that she had forgotten to give him the water.

As a result, the passenger couldn't take his medicine on time. She hurried over to him with a cup of water, but he refused it.

In the following hours on the flight, each time the flight attendant passed by the passenger, she would ask him with a smile if he needed anything. But he asked for nothing.

When he was getting off the plane, the passenger asked the flight attendant to hand him a service review(评论) card. She knew that he would write something bad, but she politely handed it to him.

Later, she looked at the card and a smile came over her face. “On the flight, you asked me whether I needed help or not 12 times in all,” the passenger wrote. “How can I refuse your 12 sincere smiles?”

English Village is near the city of Paju in South Korea. It has a concert hall theater , and even a city hall. There are restaurants and coffee shops too, and the waiters in them are all English – speaking foreign teachers.

Students of 13 or 14 years old are sent here to study English for two to four weeks. From nine to nine each day, they put their hearts into games, activities and tasks, which are specially designed to get them to communicate with English speakers. One of the most popular activities is making their own videos by using digital cameras and computers. The students are then asked to talk about their films in English.

There are lots of places for the kids to practice their spoken English. For example, they can take money out of a pretend bank, and then use it to tip their waiter at the restaurant.

English Village was built by Jeffrey Jones, an American businessman. He has worked in South Korea for a long time. He wanted to make English learning fun. That is why he built it . “Everyone in Korea seems afraid of meeting and talking with foreigners.” Said John, “But as you can see, the young students who spent only three days in English Village are a lot more confident. They are no longer afraid of meeting foreigners and answering questions in English.”
